Prunus rotundifolia, commonly known as Cherry Laurel, is an excellent choice for creating dense, formal hedging. Plant specimens 60-90cm apart to achieve optimal coverage and a full, impenetrable screen within 2-3 growing seasons. Closer spacing (60cm) produces denser foliage faster, whilst wider spacing (90cm) reduces initial costs and allows individual plants to develop naturally. This evergreen shrub tolerates regular trimming, responds well to shaping, and establishes quickly in most soil conditions. Ideal for privacy screens, boundary definition, and ornamental hedgerows in UK gardens.
