Second early potato varieties are usually ready from mid-July onwards, and may be dug as new potatoes to follow on from first earlies, but are equally successful as storing potatoes.


Solanum tuberosum 'Maris Peert' is one of the most popular potato cultivars, being available commercially as well as for the home grower. The tubers have a firm, creamy yellow flesh and have a superb flavour, but don't disintegrate during cooking. It's the perfect all-round potato, being ideal for boiling, mashing, roasting and frying. Solanum tuberosum 'Maris Peer' bears high yields and shows good disease resistance.
